Christ’s Resurrection: Your Daily Strength

You woke this morning to news that the job you applied for went to someone else. Your business faces another setback. Your child’s school fees are due, and the account is nearly empty. By 9 a.m., discouragement has wrapped itself around your heart like a heavy cloth. You wonder: does God still care? Does anything good actually await me?
This is where Peter’s words plant their feet firmly in your reality. He writes not to the comfortable, but to scattered believers—people like you—who face genuine loss and uncertainty daily. Yet he begins not with instruction or rebuke, but with blessing: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Why does Peter begin here? Because our hope is not rooted in circumstances changing, but in a historical fact: Jesus Christ rose from the dead. This is not poetry. It is history. It happened. And because it happened, everything else in your life—even your current pain—has been fundamentally altered.
Notice what resurrection does: it begets us “again unto a lively hope.” The word “lively” means living, active, energizing. This is not static hope—a mere wish that things improve. This is resurrection hope: it pulses with the very life of Christ Himself. When you trust in His resurrection, you are connected to the power that broke death itself. That same power is available to you today.
In Romans 6:9, Paul writes: “Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.” Your defeated dreams may feel like death. Your financial pressures may feel like burial. But if you belong to Christ, you are joined to His resurrection power. What once had dominion over you—fear, shame, despair—can no longer hold you captive.
This is why Peter can write to persecuted believers and call them “blessed.” Not because their circumstances were pleasant, but because their hope was alive. In 1 Corinthians 15:57, Paul declares: “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The victory is already won. You are not fighting for it; you are living in it.
Your daily hope does not depend on job approvals, business success, or school fees materializing. These things matter, and you should steward them faithfully. But your unshakeable hope rests on a risen Christ who has already conquered the grave, and who walks with you through every valley.
Today, when discouragement whispers its lies, remember: the God who raised Jesus from death is not powerless in your situation. He is the God of resurrection—the God of fresh starts, renewed strength, and impossible turnarounds. Your circumstances may not change today. But your perspective changes the moment you anchor yourself to Christ’s resurrection.
Lord, awaken in me the living hope that flows from knowing my Saviour conquered death.
