The Resurrection Power That Sustains Today

The bills that multiply faster than your income. You are a Nigerian believer, and life feels like an endless cycle of struggles with no exit in sight. But this morning, the resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks directly into your despair.

The apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthian church, anchors the entire Christian faith in one historical and eternal reality: Christ rose from the dead. Not metaphorically. Not symbolically. He physically, bodily, gloriously rose. And because He rose, victory belongs to every believer who trusts in Him. This is not optimistic thinking—it is resurrection mathematics. The One who conquered death now lives in you through His Spirit, making you a partaker of His victory.

Notice Paul’s gratitude: “Thanks be to God.” He does not give thanks for the absence of trials. He gives thanks *through* the trials, because the resurrection guarantees that no earthly circumstance has the final word. Romans 6:9 declares, “Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.” If death—the ultimate enemy—has been defeated, then what earthly power can ultimately destroy you? Second Corinthians 4:14 strengthens this: “Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.” Paul connects Christ’s resurrection to your own future resurrection and eternal glory. But the power that raised Christ operates in you *now*. It empowers you to forgive the one who wronged you. It enables you to trust God in sickness. It gives you strength to persist when others quit.

Today, when circumstances tempt you to despair, remember: the resurrection is not history you commemorate once a year. It is a living reality that reshapes your present moment. The same power that rolled away the stone from Christ’s tomb is at work in your life right now.

Challenge yourself today to identify one area where you have surrendered to fear or hopelessness—and consciously place it under the Lordship of the resurrected Christ. Speak this truth aloud: Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. And His victory is mine.
